When it comes to buying a bracelet, getting the right size is crucial to ensure comfort and style. While bracelets come in various lengths and designs, finding the perfect fit often begins with measuring your wrist accurately. In this guide, we'll walk you through the steps to measure your wrist size for a bracelet, helping you make the best choice for your wrist.
*Please note this guide is for a bracelet that clasps, not for bangles.
Pearl Bracelet in Gold-Filled
What You'll Need:
- A flexible measuring tape or a strip of paper, or string/dental floss
- A ruler
- A pen or a marker
- A friend or family member to assist (optional)
Step 1: Prepare Your Tools
First, gather your measuring tools. If you have a flexible measuring tape, that's perfect. If not, you can use a strip of paper or a piece of string (dental floss works, too).
Step 2: Measure Your Wrist
Using a Flexible Measuring Tape:
- Wrap the measuring tape snug around your wrist just above the wrist bone, or where you'd typically wear a bracelet.
- Note the measurement in inches or centimeters, depending on your preference.
Using a Strip of Paper or String
- Cut a strip of paper or a piece of string.
- Wrap the strip around your wrist, just above the wrist bone or where you’d typically wear a bracelet.
- Mark the point where the strip overlaps.
- Lay the strip flat and use a ruler to measure the distance from the end of the strip to the marked point. This measurement is your wrist size.
Step 3: Determine Your Bracelet Size
The wrist size you've just measured is not the same as the bracelet size you need. To find your bracelet size, consider the following guidelines:
- For a standard fit: Add 1/2 inch (1.27 cm) to your wrist size. This is a good choice for a comfortable, standard fit. For a more snug fit, only add 1/4in (0.68cm).
- For a draped fit: Add 3/4 to 1 inch (1.91 to 2.54 cm) to your wrist size. This allows for a more movement and a “draped” look.
Remember that these are general guidelines, and your personal preferences also matter. The type of bracelet and the materials used can influence the fit, so it's important to consider how you want the bracelet to sit on your wrist.
